Kolkata: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that NEET UG 2025 will follow the traditional pen-and-paper mode. The exam will be conducted in a single day and single shift. The exam authority took this decision amidst efforts to prevent malpractice. Last year, protests broke out for re-conducting of NEET UG 2024 for 1,500 students due to exam errors.

In December 2024, the NTA revealed they were still evaluating whether NEET UG 2025 would follow the traditional pen-and-paper format or transition to a Computer-Based Test (CBT). Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that discussions with the Health Ministry, led by JP Nadda, were underway to determine the most effective mode for the exam. While the idea of switching to CBT isn't new, it gained renewed attention after last year's paper leak controversy, prompting calls for a more secure testing process.
